Les grandes unités coloniales en Indo
Bonjour,

Reply with quote Re: Great colonial units in Indo
Hi,
Try this version.
9 DIC:
End - 11/1/46, MS of 9 DIC
11/2/46 - 8/11/54, Becomes TFIN
Then EMde The operational area of Tonkin,
Finally, the North Vietnam
3 DIC:
10/45 to 9/12/46, MS of 3 DIC
9/13/46 to 3/9/49, Becomes TFIS EM
3/10/49 - 5/5/51, Becomes the FFVS
5/6/51 to 8/11/54, Becomes the FTVS
1st Brigade of Extreme Orient,
Early 1946, Landed in Saigon,
3/31/47, Annam, 1st BEO disbanded and 1st BEO Command Company became Annam HQ.
8/1/47 - 10/9/49, EMdes TFCA
10/10/49 - 08/11/54, Becomes the FTCVP area
Then the land forces of Vietnam Center.
The information on the 3 DIC & the 9 DIC comes from: INDOCHINE UNITS (Period from September 16, 1945 to August 11, 1954)
The information on the 1 BEO comes from: FRENCH GROUND FORCE ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR COUNTERREVOLUTIONARY WARFARE BETWEEN 1945 AND 1962
The direct quote from the Author with footnote follows: Indeed, the Far East Expeditionary Corps was disbanded in December 1946 and its assets used to create the headquarters of the Far East Ground Forces, the territorial command for Indochina. Expeditionary Corps also had three divisions headquarters, which became the basis for the reestablished Cochin-China, Tonkin, and Annam territorial headquarters.34
34.Erwan Bergot, Gendarmes au Combat, Indochina 1945-1955 (Paris: Presses de la Cite, 1987), 285, indicates that the Annam headquarters was also formed by the Far East Brigade, while the 3d Colonial Infantry Division cadred the Cochin- China headquarters and the 9th Colonial Infantry Division, the Tonkin headquarters.
If anyone has questions, please ask. If there are corrections / additions I would welcome them.
Regards

Hi,
No worries Andrien. I try to have valid information before posting on line. A process which sadly is not shared by many of the on line posters today.
